Bentley Road Veterinary Practice Ltd

Unfortunately, after today’s experience, I will not recommend Bentley Road Vets to anyone. A few years ago, our cats were registered with this practice. At the time, one of our cats was diagnosed with struvite crystals and we were advised to have an ultrasound scan. However, the practice did not have the equipment to perform the scan and, as far as I remember, the vet suggested bringing in equipment from elsewhere. The price quoted for the scan was extremely high, so we decided to move our cats to another practice. Today, after several disappointing experiences with large corporate veterinary practices, we tried to return to Bentley Road Vets and called to register our cats again, as one of them now needs an appointment. We were told by the receptionist that the vet did not want to take us on as clients because we had previously left the practice. I honestly find this incredibly disappointing and rather petty. We did not leave because of poor treatment or because we had a problem with the practice- we simply made a financial decision when we were faced with a very expensive diagnostic test that required equipment the practice did not have on site. I genuinely don’t understand why a veterinary practice would refuse to provide care to an animal years later because its owners previously decided to go elsewhere. People should be free to choose another practice when they feel it is more appropriate for their pets or their finances at the time, and they should also be free to return. Perhaps, in the end, it is for the best. In my opinion, refusing to see a cat for such a minor reason does not reflect particularly well on a veterinary professional. We are looking for a vet who genuinely cares about animals, but also understands that veterinary treatment can be financially difficult for owners and that sometimes people have to make decisions based on what they can afford. After all the frustrations we have experienced with veterinary care recently, we were hoping to return to a smaller, independent practice. Unfortunately, being turned away for this reason has left a very poor impression.

We took our puppy to be spayed and were naturally very anxious, as we knew it was a serious operation. We love our puppy so much and didn't want her to be unduly stressed, but we knew it had to be done. The vets were amazing throughout the whole process. They were professional, caring, and reassuring, which helped put our minds at ease. Three weeks later, she had her stitches removed and is now back to her normal mischievous self. Bentley Vets provided a professional and friendly service, and we were extremely satisfied with the care our puppy received. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy veterinary practice.

Booked an appointment for 6 puppies to receive their first vaccinations. Upon arriving, I informed the staff that the owners of 3 of the puppies had specifically requested no L4 vaccine, only DHPPI, due to concerns they have seen. When I discussed this with the vet, I was told that if L4 wasn’t being administered alongside DHPPI, then he would refuse to vaccinate those puppies at all. He claimed the vaccine license required them to be given together. Wanting to verify this, I contacted the vaccine manufacturer (MSD) directly, who confirmed that DHPPI can be given on its own. This contradiction is very concerning and raises questions about the advice being given and the overall integrity of the practice when it comes to pet care. A disappointing and frustrating experience, especially when trying to act in the best interest of the animals and their owners.
